For the past two months I've been trialing the fancy new contraption known as the Sunbeam NutriSeal™ Vacuum Blender. From the minute it turned up on my doorstep I was suspicious of claims of 'cutting-edge', ' 'keeping your smoothie fresh for up to 24 hours' and 'user friendly'. How good could this blender really be?
What is an ‘integrated vacuum blender', you ask? It's exactly what it sounds like - the blender has a little vacuum built in and sucks much of the air out of the jug prior to blending to ensure you're left with the smoothest, most vibrant and vitamin-packed drink remaining. As you can imagine, it sounds like a miniature vacuum cleaner on your bench-top, however it only takes 30 seconds followed by another 30 seconds of blending. A nutrient-dense and silky smooth smoothie in a minute!
The trial period comprised a variety of breakfast smoothies, some of which I vacuum-sealed and left in the fridge overnight while others I made fresh that morning. Apparently, the Sunbeam NutriSealTM Vacuum Blender uses powerful vacuum technology to remove air and lock in vitamins to preserve up to 40% more vitamin C for healthy, smoother juices and smoothies. Given that this had already been proven, I wanted to take it one step further and put it to the ultimate test - blending and preventing the oxidisation of a banana-rich, thick and creamy shake.
This coffee cookie shake sits among swirls of nutella, hazelnut crumbs on the rim, hazelnut crumb base, coffee smoothie swirl, chocolate hazelnut smoothie swirl, hazelnut biscuit crumb topping, whipped coconut cream, nutella blob and espresso drizzle, dusted with cacao powder.

The frozen bananas did get a little stuck, and with the vacuum seal it's quite difficult to get in there and give them a jiggle. However, there is an option to vacuum seal after you blend so it's a totally remediable qualm.
Texture

Smooth as a smoothie should be! Every single drink I whizzed up came out beautiful and silky. I really enjoyed the auto-blend function and think it came down to the variation in speed throughout the process.
Cleaning

Believe it or not, I'm notoriously lazy when it comes to making food. If it requires more than two vessels or one hour, then I'm out! Even cleaning my food processor can demand more effort than I'm willing to expend. I was expecting the rather sturdy blender to come with a proportional amount of cleaning time to match its technological advancement. However, to my happy surprise, the 1.5L Tritan™ jug is deliciously easy to clean! All it requires is either a simple blend and rinse or a quick and easy scrub. Should you want to prepare two different flavours, or a smoothie for yourself and one for a friend, you can store one in the portable Vacuum Seal Cup provided. Sharing is caring!

Best of all, if you have leftovers or want to prep ahead of time, you can simply vacuum seal all your smoothie goodness. Fear the split, beige nonsense no more. The NutriSeal™ keeps your blends as fresh as can be for up to 24 hours after you initially hit that start button.
Overall, I think it’s safe to say that I absolutely love this machine and am immensely grateful to Sunbeam for the opportunity to use it for my creations. If you are interested in learning more, here is a quick summary:
